The three-member panel set up to probe the scandalous Lingam tape are now meeting in the Suhakam office in Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier at about 10.15am, they received a memorandum from a group of protesters calling themselves the steering committee to free the judiciary. Among other things, the memo voiced the dissatisfaction of the group at the non-progress made by the panel in their investigations into the Lingam tape.

At 11.25am, IGP Musa Hassan, AG Abdul Gani Patail and ACA deputy DG Abu Kassim Mohd arrived to join the meeting

The three-member panel, chaired by former chief judge of Malaya Haidar Mohd Noor with former judge Mahadev Shankar and National Service Training Council chairperson Lee Lam Thye as members, has only 30 working days to complete their task. The deadline is Nov 7.

Today's meeting is the panel's second. They held their first meeting on October 3.
